About the artwork
This painting shows a Glossy Black Cockatoo carefully feeding on she-oak (Allocasuarina) seeds, the only food this species eats. Glossies are true specialists, relying completely on these trees for their survival. When she-oak forests are cleared or lost to fire, the birds lose their only food source.
