Hi, I’m Jen Oceans

I’m a strategist, catalyst and artist with more than 35 years of experience across eco-tourism, conservation, community engagement and business.

I help purpose-driven people and organisations work smarter, act sustainably and turn big ideas into real impact. My approach blends creativity with strategy, grounded in years of hands-on experience working with nature, communities and campaigns.

My Story

I started my career working with wildlife at the Australian Reptile Park, and later built, directed and sold a successful eco-tourism company that connected people with the ocean. Along the way, I have collaborated with First Nations communities across the Torres Strait, Pacific and Indian Oceans, and supported nature-based projects from the tropics to the temperate south.

On the ground, I have trapped wild horses, caught cane toads, and helped wildlife carers after bushfires. As a land steward of a conservation property, I understand the realities of protecting habitat for the long term and have supported others to do the same.

I’ve led national campaigns, co-authored community engagement tools, and worked with organisations such as Odonata Foundation, Biodiversity Legacy and the Australian Marine Conservation Society. These experiences plus so much more, shaped Oceans Eco Motive, a space where creativity meets strategy and where good ideas are given the structure and clarity to thrive.

My Approach

I believe real change comes from collaboration, trust, being authentic and positive.

I move easily between the office and the bush, online and off-gird, helping people and organisations make clear decisions, communicate effectively and take practical steps forward.

Whether it’s strengthening organisations, mentoring emerging leaders, designing a campaign, or supporting a conservation network, I bring energy, empathy and curiosity to every project.

As a 2024 WELA National Leadership Program alumna, I strengthened my skills in collaboration, strategy and courageous leadership for environmental change, and gained an incredible network of skilled, progressive people I can call on when needed.

I’m happiest when I can help others find confidence in their purpose and build the systems and support they need to succeed.

Past and Present Collaborations

From contracts and campaigns to volunteer projects, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many organisations doing good work for people and nature. Each collaboration has added to my understanding of what drives impact and how communities can create lasting change together.
